Avoid empty promises if you want to make long term relationships with your customers. An empty promise to a customer is cast in stone. If you over-promise just to get an order today, then you might make money today but you’ll certainly be poor for the rest of your life because as earlier stated customers will hate you for life..
Never ever lie to your customer. It’s important maintain truth at all times and to apologize where you have made a mistake to a customer because this is a black and white issue, not a grey area. It will therefore be difficult for you to find out what the problem is if you are the one who is doing the talking most of the time.
Be positive and optimistic that things will be okay all the time. It pays to be positive about your business even when you find that things are wrong. Your role should be to fix the problem once and for all. When you do that you are poised for better future because customers are likely to benefit from those improvements in better service delivery.
The process of sales is all about relationship building. As such, success in sales is largely based on knowing when and how to work with your customers or prospects. Authentic leadership involves knowing how to collaborate with others when things go wrong in the business.
